OpenSolaris is an evolutionary open source project based on the Solaris source code opened by Sun in 2005. It consists of three components: source code, community, and binary distributions. The source code includes all the key Solaris innovations such as Dynamic Tracing (DTrace), Containers,Predictive Self Healing, and ZFS. OpenSolaris is a single source base for SPARC and x86/x64. It is buildable with both Sun Studio C/C++ compilers and with the GNU compilers. Source code includes XML source for all Solaris documentation. GlassFish
GlassFish is a free, open source application server which implements the newest features in the Java EE 5 platform. The Java EE 5 platform includes web and enterprise technologies such as such as JavaServer Pages (JSP) 2.1, JavaServer Face s(JSF) 1.2, Servlet 2.5, Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0, Java API for Web Services (JAX-WS) 2.0, Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB) 2.0, Web Services Metadata for the Java Platform 1.0, and many other new technologies.
